Next month at Brave CF 73, Zach Makovsky will return to the cage as he attempts to get back in the win column and snap a run of split-decision verdicts.
Makovsky, who turned 40 earlier this year, hopes to break a two-fight losing streak when he heads to the Colombian capital to battle Flavio de Queiroz.
The former Bellator world champion has all the credentials needed to thrive in Brave Combat Federation as a former Division I wrestler, and the fighter known as “Fun Size” will be looking to make vast 17 years of experience a factor.
The Pennsylvania native was born in Bethlehem back in 1983, and from a young age, it was clear to see that he was part of a talented family. His parents supported his wrestling career alongside his sister’s desire to become a gymnast, but they weren’t overly thrilled about the idea of him entering hand-to-hand combat.
While they tried to dissuade him, Zach fell in love with martial arts movies and became inspired to follow that path. He was initially placed in a taekwondo class and, after making his way through the belts, he realised that if he wanted to take that next step, he needed to learn how to fight.
Makovsky has been there and done it all in a handful of major promotions, but now he has some real adversity to overcome. His flyweight venture hasn’t quite been going to plan and if there’s going to be a second mountain for him in his career, it has to come sooner rather than later.
Makovsky picked up a split-decision win over Velimurad Alkhasov on his promotional debut at Brave CF 34, but fell to back-to-back split-decision defeats – firstly in a rematch with Alkhasov, then against Asu Almabaev.
Now he’ll be looking to bounce back to winning ways when he takes on 13-4 Brazilian de Queiroz at Brave CF 73 in Colombia.
Victory could push him towards a possible shot at the promotion’s flyweight title but with all three of his Brave CF appearances so far going to split-decision verdicts, you can be sure that “Fun Size” will be chasing a decisive victory in Bogota on August 12.
