William Crolla will be back between the ropes in a few weeks’ time.
The 25-year-old from Manchester turned professional earlier this year and won his first fight.
Crolla, the younger brother of former WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla, boxed against Joe Hardy on the undercard of Leigh Wood’s win over Mauricio Lara in the pair’s rematch back in May.
And after a brief hiatus, the man who is trained by his sibling has been confirmed as an addition to the supporting cast of a card in Liverpool.
Former undisputed super-lightweight title challenger Jack Catterall had a career-best performance last time out, dominating and outpointing Darragh Foley over 12 rounds to win the WBA Inter-Continental title and he will defend the belt at the M&S Bank Arena on Merseyside against former world champion Jorge Linares.
Japanese-based Venezuelan Linares is 37 and will go into the fight against ‘El Gato’ on the back of three defeats, but the ex-WBC Diamond and WBA world lightweight titlist will be watched from ringside by Crolla after he has boxed on the same bill.
Scouser Paddy Lacey will be back in action on the card after a warm-up in his home city, at Grand Central Hall, on September 23, while Aqib Fiaz will meet Reece Bellotti in a super-featherweight contest for the vacant Commonwealth crown which will also be a final eliminator for the British title.
Peter McGrail, the former star amateur who went to the Olympics in Tokyo for Team GB before turning over and eventually inking a deal with Matchroom, will fight for his first title on the card as he faces fellow undefeated fighter Fran Mendoza for the vacant WBA Continental super-bantamweight title, while Shabaz Masoud will make his Matchroom debut against José Sanmartin in a defence of the WBA Inter-Continental title in the same division as McGrail.
Campbell Hatton will feature on the card alongside Muhammad Ali and Khaleel Majid, who faces local opposition in the shape of former WBC International Silver super-lightweight title challenger Tom Farrell.
