Malik Scott, trainer for former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, expects a tremendous knockout victory if his boxer steps in the ring with former unified champ Andy Ruiz.
The two sides are currently in talks for a potential fall showdown.
At the moment, Ruiz is not happy with the money being presented for the contest.
According to Ruiz’s father and manager, Andy Ruiz Sr, they were offered a 30% take of the split – and they are pushing for an even 50-50 split, which is unlikely to happen.
“Wilder wants to offer Andy around 30%,” Ruiz Sr. told Izquierdazo. “We want 50-50, because Wilder is no longer a champion, he is coming off a very bad fight, where he fought against a sparring partner [Robert Helenius]. I think that sparring partner took a dive. And Andy is coming off a good fight that lasted 12 rounds [with Luis Ortiz].”
Scott is not involved in the monetary talks, but he expects his boxer to close the show with a tremendous knockout victory.
“I don’t even want to say what round that I think because it comes across as very brash, but I will say something will happen to Andy Ruiz that has never happened before. He will be knocked out cold,” Scott told ES News.
“He has been hit by lighter punchers [like Chris Arreola] that don’t hit as hard as Deontay, and he has been down, has been hurt, has been wobbled. Does that make him a bad fighter? Absolutely not. I’m just talking about him going up against the hardest puncher in the history of the sport. My prediction is that something will happen to Andy Ruiz that has never been done to him before – and that is he’ll get knocked out cold.”
Wilder was in action back in October of last year, when he knocked out Robert Helenius in one round at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
