Frank Warren, promoter for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, believes his boxer will handle Anthony Joshua in the same manner as Deontay Wilder.
Back in February at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Fury dropped and stopped Wilder in seven rounds to capture the WBC title.
Joshua, who holds the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO world titles, is very interested in reaching a deal to get Fury in the ring for a full division unification.
Both champions have other commitments to contend with, before they can even imagine facing each other in the ring.
Fury is going to face Widler in a contract trilogy fight, potentially on a date in October. And Joshua, who was scheduled to face mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev on June 20, will now see that contest pushed back to a possible date in July or even later in the year.
“Tyson will do to Joshua exactly what he did to Wilder,” Warren told The Express. “What people forget about Fury is that he’s got a very strong chin.
“He’s got a great boxing brain, he’s got great hand speed, he’s got great footwork, he’s brave, we’ve seen him get off the floor.
“We’ve seen him do all of that, AJ was terribly exposed against Andy Ruiz Jr. He got absolutely exposed and in the second fight Ruiz Jr was even heavier than he should have been, totally out of condition. AJ trained hard, it’s what you should do as a pro, he fought on the back foot. But I look at it this way.”
