WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is making the best of his current situation.
Back in February, the unbeaten boxer picked up one of the biggest wins of his pro career when he dropped and stopped Deontay Wilder to capture the WBC title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the majority of the world is on lockdown and the entire sport of boxing is currently paused.
But Fury is making the best of the situation, as it gives him additional time to spend with his wife and children.
“Interview here, interview there and I wouldn’t have no time with my family, so this time for me, although it’s been a negative time, I’ve taken quite a lot of positives out of it as well,” Fury told Sky Sports.
“Sometimes we get caught up in the rat race and caught up in life. We don’t really take time to appreciate the things that we’re lucky to do on a daily basis, like go out and roam around, and be free and do what we want to do. All that sort of stuff, we take for granted, and we’re always in a mindset where we always want more.
“We never stop, take a minute to look around and be thankful for what we do have. I’ve been banging this drum for years about being thankful for what we do have, the small things in life.”
When the entire pandemic is over, Fury will be heading in the direction of a third bout with Wilder, which was initially targeted for July and now eyed for the month of October.
“I’d like to think we’re not going to go back to how we were before. I would like to think we’ll go back and be better than we were before,” Fury said.
