Three more fighters were offered UFC contracts following week seven of Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020.
Middleweight Jordan Williams, featherweight Collin Anglin and women’s featherweight Danyelle Wolf were the recipients of UFC contracts this week.
Find out how they earned their UFC contracts below!
Jordan Williams makes quick work of Gregory Rodriguez
Jordan Williams fought like he had a point to prove on his third outing on the Dana White Contender Series.
Williams lost last time round, dropping a split decision to Ramazan Kuramagomedov, but was successful against Gregory Rodrigues on Tuesday night.
The Californian withstood some strikes to march down Rodrigues against the cage fence and landed a sweet counter left hook.
Staggered, Brazil’s Rodrigues couldn’t do anything to survive as Williams swarmed him with punches.
This middleweight contest was called a day at 2:19 of the first round and Williams was a deserved recipient of a UFC contract.
Collin Anglin gets unanimous decision over Muhammadjon Naimov
Collin Anglin won his UFC contract and ended Muhammadjon Naimov’s unbeaten record in one fell swoop.
It didn’t come easy, though. Naimov started the fight brightly, easily winning the first round as he landed some big strikes including a flush knee in Anglin’s face.
However, the Tajikistan native’s gas tank couldn’t keep up with Anglin’s as he turned things up a notch.
The American returned fire with knees of his own in the second round, before grounding Naimov, taking full mount and landing some impactful ground and pound.
Round three followed a similar path as Anglin outstruck his opponent – hurting Naimov this time – and taking him down to secure the decision.
Naimov, however, managed to reverse position in the dying moments of the fight to land a series of elbows from side control in the dying moments of the fight. Though, it was not enough to sway the judges to score the fight in his favour.
Great fight from both men, but it’s Anglin who has joined the UFC roster.
Danyelle Wolf earns UFC contract in professional MMA debut
Former boxer and MMA debutant Danyelle Wolf won her first fight in the sport and a UFC contract in the process.
Things got off to a good start for Wolf as she out-boxed Taneisha Tennant in the first round and had her opponent hurt in the early going.
Tennant made an adjustment in the second round and looked better as she landed kicks at range and avoided danger.
The third round looked good for Tennant as well as she took a similar approach to the contest. However, an accidental eye poke halted Tennant’s gameplan.
She continued to fight on, but spent much of the last round trying to defend a guillotine choke.
Wolf doesn’t appear to be as well-rounded a mixed martial artist as Tennant, but showed enough glimpses to take the split decision and earn a call up to the UFC.
