Steve Claggett Pressures Marcos Gonzalez Into Submission After Two One-Sided Rounds

Calgary’s Claggett (38-7-2, 26 KOs) extended his winning streak to nine. Mexico’s Gonzalez (23-4, 11 KOs) lost by technical knockout for the second time in his 15-year professional career.

Claggett continually applied pressure on Gonzalez during the second round, when he kept Gonzalez on his back foot and consistently connected with the harder punches. Claggett punctuated the second round with a right uppercut that connected just before the bell sounded to end it.

That turned out to be the last punch he landed in their fight.

The first round was a preview of what would happen in the second round. An aggressive Claggett persistently pressured Gonzalez throughout that round as well in what was a tiny ring that didn’t leave Gonzalez much room to move.
