Practically every fan, media pundit, and prognosticator – has something to say about how Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford will play out on July 29th. They’ll break down the minutiae of their clash and give their thoughts.
Spence though, has kept things simple. Of course, he has to acknowledge that boxing from the outside and brawling on the inside will play a part. Ultimately, according to Spence, the winner of their undisputed bout will come down to pain tolerance. And, considering that he believes Crawford’s punch resistance is a bit on the shaky side, Spence is convinced that he’ll shine in that department.
“I know I can break him down,” admitted Spence to a number of reporters. “I know he’s not as durable as me.”
Spence’s resilience has been tested both in and outside of the ring. No one can forget his car wreck in 2019. He essentially walked away without a scratch. In 2022, the Texas resident recovered nicely from a detached/torn retina and would eventually stop Yordenis Ugas in his subsequent comeback fight.
In the ring, Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) has never buckled. He enjoys staying in the line of fire and is confident that his chin will hold up in comparison to his opponents. Crawford, on the other hand, has been buzzed by lesser punchers, most notably against Yuriokis Gamboa and Egidijus Kavaliauskas.
Getting into an all-out war vs. a bigger man may not be in Crawford’s best interest. Luckily for him, he’s mastered the sport of boxing. Crawford’s game plan will eventually be unveiled on fight night. But even with his tactics being kept under wraps, Spence isn’t unnerved.
In the end, whatever Crawford brings to the table, it’ll be innocuous as Spence plans on using pure savagery to defeat him.
“My skill set is going to overpower anything that he brings to the table.”
