Natasha Jonas will be back in the ring in a few weeks’ time.
The unified world champion hasn’t boxed so far this year.
Jonas holds the WBC, WBO and IBF super-welterweight global honours in the female ranks and was last between the ropes last November at the AO Arena in Manchester.
‘Miss GB’, from Liverpool, scored an unanimous decision against Marie-Eve Dicaire at the venue up the East Lancashire Road last time out and will be hoping to continue her Indian summer when she returns there on June 17.
The 38-year-old has been revealed as an addition to the supporting cast of her fellow Liverpudlian Liam Smith’s middleweight rematch against Chris Eubank Jr., exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.
‘Beefy’, who is a former gym-mate of Jonas under the tutelage of Joe Gallagher, is now trained by Joseph McNally and Declan O’Rourke at the Rotunda ABC on Merseyside and he expertly dispaatched of former WBA interim champion Eubank Jr. inside four rounds in the same setting when the pair met back in January.
And as he looks to do a number on the 33-year-old from Brighton once more, Jonas –– who became the first ever woman to claim the coveted British Boxing Board of Control Fighter of the Year award –– will be hoping to sit ringside and watch after making another successful defence of her crowns.
An opponent for Jonas has yet to be finalised, though she will be in top company on the night as former WBO middleweight world champion Savannah Marshall returns to the ring.
Marshall suffered her first defeat as a pro last time out when she took on peerless American Claressa Shields for the WBA, WBO, IBF and WBC titles and dropped an unanimous verdict over 10 rounds.
And now ‘The Silent Assassin’ will be looking to get back in the win column in another undisputed showdown as she moves up in weight to fight Franchon Crews-Dezurn for the WBA, WBO, IBF and WBC titles up at super-middleweight.
Mark Heffron will defend his British super-middleweight title against Zak Chelli on the card and further undercard additions will be revealed in due course.
