Former two division world champion Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) is ready to capture more gold when he faces Dominican slugger Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) on November 16.
The two fighters will collide for the vacant WBC lightweight world title at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
There will be more gold in the co-feature, as Mexico’s Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete (38-1, 31 KOs) defends his WBO junior lightweight strap against Brazilian Olympic gold medal winner Robson Conceicao (17-2, 8 KOs).
Stevenson, who captured world titles at featherweight and super featherweight, is planning to put on a show for the Las Vegas crowd.
“I can’t wait. It’s going to be very exciting. You’ve got the tough Edwin De Los Santos, but I’m here to whoop his ass,” Stevenson vowed.
A victory would propel Stevenson to some very big fights in the future – with Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia and pay-per-view fight possibilities from 135 to 140.
The unbeaten fighter is not getting too far ahead of himself. At the moment, his full focus is circulating around a world title win in two days.
“We can’t think about what comes after. I’m not worried about after. We’ve got a job to do Thursday night. I’m coming here to get my belt,” Stevenson said.
Stevenson expects De Los Santos to do more boxing than punching in the early rounds. The Olympic silver medalist believes that he will stamp his strategy by the fourth round of the fight.
“I think that Edwin is a good fighter. I think he’s more of a boxer than what he’s trying to act like. So, he’s going to try to move around. And I’m going to figure him out by the fourth round,” Stevenson said.
