Palasport Le Cupole, Torino, Italy – The Opi Fight Night card, promoted and organized by Italian promoter Opi Since 82 in association with Top Rank, saw Sandor Martin, the mandatory challenger to newly crowned junior welterweight champion Devin Haney, secure a fourth round knockout win over Belgian Mohamed El Marcouchi.
In the main event – showcasing Francesco Grandelli – the local man took down Stefan Voda to capture the vacant EBU silver featherweight title in the second round.
Martin was simply too much for the veteran El Marcouchi. The Spaniard showed all of his repertoire with timing, precision punching, footwork, mobility and ring IQ and dropped his opponent in the second round, then closed the fight with a flurry of punches that landed hard on El Marcouchi, who couldn’t get up and the referee ruled a KO victory for Martin in the fourth.
Grandelli had his fabulous night, in blasted out Voda in the second round after landing a check left hook several times on the Belgian. The packed arena was inflamed for Grandelli’s performance, who won the first EBU Silver title of his career, regaining confidence after the loss against Mauro Forte in May 2023.
Also on the card, former IBF International champion Maxim Prodan stepped in the ring against Miguel Cesario Antin over eight rounds in the welterweight division. It was a tough fight for the OPI Since 82 Ukrainian, Prodan, who gave chase throughout the fight and his opponent that proved to be both a slick fighter and willing to close the distance and fight toe-to-toe. Prodan ultimately won via unanimous decision with scores of 79-75, 77-75, and 77-75.
