Ryan Garcia has done his best to shed the “pretty boy” label he’s often been tabbed with. But while he’s pointed to both his amateur record, consisting of 215 wins against just 15 losses, along with his undefeated ledger in the pros through 23 fights, and Garcia believes that he just hasn’t gotten the respect he deserves.
In an effort to garner worldwide reverence, the 24-year-old both fought and trash-talked his way into a showdown against one of boxing’s premier stars and violent KO artists in Gervonta Davis. The two will look to settle their differences on April 22nd, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
For the better part of the past five years, including during two incendiary pressers, Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) told all that would listen that he’ll eventually leave Davis motionless on the mat. Richardson Hitchins, however, isn’t believing a single word. In addition to giving the ostentatious contender virtually no chance at pulling off the upset, Hitchins is convinced that it was Garcia’s star power, not his skills, that scored him a date in one of the biggest fights of the year.
“Ryan Garcia is not an elite fighter whatsoever,” said Hitchins on his social media account. “Just talented with speed and power and he’s popular. That’s all.”
Davis, 28, is appreciative of those in boxing circles supporting him. When last seen, the Baltimore native punished Hector Luis Garcia, stopping him in the ninth round of their January 7th showdown and stripping him of his undefeated record.
Although Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) has stated on numerous occasions that he’s a skillful boxer, he thoroughly enjoys turning out the lights of his opponents. Hitchins, overall, is unapologetic in his views surrounding their mega clash.
Eager to prove that he isn’t simply bloviating, Hitchins reveals that if anyone opposes his prediction, he’ll quickly make an ATM run and wager any amount on Davis to get the job done.
“Dude is going to get punished or going to bed April 22nd. I’m willing to bet whatever.”
