Reymart Gaballo retained his WBO Oriental bantamweight Title in a hard-fought battle against Michael Bravo. The fight took place on Saturday night, at the Elorde Ballroom in Manila.
And Gaballo emerged victorious via a ten round split decision to raise his record to 26-1 with 21 knockouts. The scorecards were 95-94 for Bravo and 96-93 twice for Gaballo. Bravo fell to 14-3 and 7 knockouts.
The win was the second one in a row for the Filipino fighter, after suffering a knockout loss at the hands of his countryman Nonito Donaire in December of 2021.
The fight with Bravo was a tough one for Gaballo, as he suffered cuts on both his left and right eye in the second round. Despite the injuries, Gaballo put up a strong fight and displayed his resilience and determination to come out on top.
The crowd was on the edge of their seats throughout the contest, as both boxers were more than willing to exchange. However, Gaballo’s skill and experience proved to be the difference in overcoming Bravo, who was unable to keep up with the pace.
Speaking after the fight, Gaballo expressed his gratitude to his fans and supporters, saying, “I want to thank everyone who came out to support me tonight. It was a tough fight because of my cuts, but I knew I had to dig deep and give it my all. I’m proud to have retained my title, and I’ll continue to work hard to defend it in the future.”
