Renato Valente stuns Daniel Compton with second-round TKO in Santa Cruz – Fighters Only

In a highly-anticipated LFA middleweight showdown that has been months in the making, Renato “Indio” Valente claimed a second-round TKO victory over Daniel “Santo” Compton at LFA 165.

Valente was looking to bounce back into the win column after his February defeat to Azamat Bekoev at LFA 152, and he did so in fine style as he finished hometown hero Compton 49 seconds into the second round to improve his record to 10-6.

Valente’s win also snapped Compton’s impressive five-fight win streak as he handed the Santa Cruz native only the third loss of his career.

The co-main event saw welterweight Buddy Wallace claim a first-round knockout of Wallace Lopes. Wallace extended his win streak to five on his LFA debut after arriving in the promotion off the back of three consecutive victories in Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat promotion.

And Wallace marked the occasion of his 30th pro fight with a resounding win as he stopped Brazil’s Lopes with a big knee and follow-up punches to improve his career record to 20-9-1.

Also on the card, two-time LFA bantamweight title challenger Allan Begosso bounced back into the win column with a unanimous decision victory over Christian Giovannie.

Begosso’s previous outing saw him lose out on the scorecards to John Sweeney as he missed out on championship gold at LFA 160. But just two months later, “Mini” made a swift turnaround to get back to winning ways with a dominant performance to earn scores of 30-26, 30-26, 30-27 and earn the eighth win of his career.
