Back in March, Colbert got off the floor to win a close and some felt controversial decision over Valenzuela.
The start of the rematch was a mirror image of the first encounter, as Valenzuela battered Colbert with heavy punches to send him down in the first. Colbert took a count, and was on his feet, and then Valenzuela was unloading big punches on him. Somehow Colbert survived the assault and was able to make it to the bell.
In the second, Valenzuela seemed to stun Colbert early. Colbert was boxing well and trying to get Valenzuela’s respect. He was starting to land well on Valenzuela. In the third, Colbert was happy to trade punches at times with Valenzuela, who was landing the bigger shots. The fought saw Valenzuela have better success with his power shots. Colbert was game and still in there.
Valenzuela was connecting with hard shots from different angles during the fifth round. And then Valenzuela closed show in the sixth when he blasted him with a solid shot that put Colbert down and out.
