The fight began as a chess match, with the two boxers picking their spots. Rodriguez was targeting the body often to slow Edwards down. In the second round, both had moments of success but the left eye of Edwards began to swell up rapidly. In the third, Rodriguez’s jab was landing often on Edwards. The Brit began to sit down on his punches in the closing moments.
In the fourth, Edwards did very good work and began to land his accurate shots often. The fifth saw Rodriguez come out firing and start to connect hard shots on Edwards, who got hit more often than usual. In the sixth it was give and take, as they stood toe to toe and exchanges punches in close. The left eye of Edwards was now bleeding. Rodriguez closed the round very strong.
The seventh had Rodriguez rocking Edwards with the harder punches to the head and body. The right eye of Edwards no had a cut as well. The eight had Rodriguez really working over Edwards with the heavy punches and doing damage. Edwards was gutsy and fighting back. In the ninth, Rodriguez was working over Edwards with heavy punches from both hands. Edwards was landing at times with accurate punches, but Rodriguez was walking through the shots. At the end of the round, Rodriguez landed a big hook to send Edwards down on his face. Edwards was able to make it up to his feet and finished the round. The corner of Edwards waved it off before the start of the tenth.
