Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) punished and stopped Otto Wallin (26-2, 14 KOs) in five rounds of one-sided action.
In one of his most active years in some time, Joshua was taking part in his third fight of 2023.
The British star had been slated to face Deontay Wilder in March of 2024, but Wilder lost a one-sided decision to Joseph Parker in the co-feature.
Johsua came out pressing forward and pushing Wallin back. Wallin was boxing well, but his nose was already reddened by the jab of Joshua. A tactical boxing match in the second, with both having moments of success. The nose of Wallin began to bleed from the jab of Joshua. The third was give and take at times, with Joshua connecting on the harder punches.
The fourth saw Joshua outbox and outland Wallin. The face of Wallin was getting marked up quickly. In the fifth, Wallin was getting caught often by Joshua’s shots to the head and body. A big left hand rocked Wallin, who staggered back to the ropes. Joshua jumped on him, with Wallin moving away to weather the storm. At the end of the round, the corner of Wallin had seen enough and waved off the fight.
