PFL Europe has strengthened its roster with the signing of one of the UK’s top young prospects, Shanelle Dyer.
The 22-year-old flyweight is 2-0 as a professional, but has an extensive amateur career that saw her capture the Cage Warriors Academy South East strawweight title, then win the EMMAA Four Nations Championships as a flyweight, before turning pro. Her two professional bouts have both seen Dyer claim first-round knockouts, with her pro debut seeing her claim a stunning spinning backfist KO for French promotion Hexagone MMA.
Now the Londoner, who is currently featuring in the Sky Documentaries series “The Good Fight Club,” is set to join the PFL’s growing European roster that includes Dakota Ditcheva, Frans Mlambo, Ali Taleb, Francesco Nuzzi and Lewis McGrillen. PFL officials also confirmed that Dyer will make her promotional debut at the PFL Europe Finals at the 3Arena in Dublin on December 8.
“I could not be more excited to bring Shanelle Dyer onto the PFL Europe roster,” said PFL Europe’s director of fighter operations Dan Hardy.
“I’ve watched her rising through the ranks and winning titles, and seen her in action in the gym many times. There is no doubt that she is one of the most formidable prospects in all of Mixed Martial Arts, and to have her join the PFL roster so early in her career means that we can bring Shanelle’s journey to the top, to the MMA fans around the world.
“I think, within a short amount of time, PFL Europe fans will realize that we have a real talent on our hands, and will eagerly anticipate her fights each time she steps into the Smartcage.”
PFL Europe is currently supporting the English Mixed Martial Arts Association (EMMAA) for its Four Nations Championship, which is set to get underway this weekend in Ebbw Vale, Wales. The promotion will also be launching the “PFL Europe Prospect Award” at the event, with three fighters set to be selected for $1,000 of training funds, plus mentorship from Hardy, to help them on their journey in the sport.
PFL Europe’s SVP of international, James Frewin, said, “PFL Europe are proud to be partnering with EMMAA Four Nations Championships. The investment they make to provide more opportunity to develop the sport at the grassroots is vital for the development of MMA in the UK and Ireland and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
The PFL Europe season continues with the PFL Europe Playoffs on September 30 in Paris, France, with the 2023 PFL Europe season finale set to take place on December 8 in Dublin, Ireland.
