Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson admits that he could be persuaded to have another exhibition fight.
Tyson, who retired from the sport in 2005, returned to the ring in 2020 to have an exhibition clash with former four division champion Roy Jones Jr.
The contest ended in an eight round split draw, but the pay-per-view generated over 1 million purchases.
The heavy demand for Tyson-Jones created a mountain of pay-per-view events with exhibition fights – and that trend continues to this day.
Earlier this year, Tyson traveled over to Saudi Arabia to witness Tommy Fury pulling off a decision win over Youtube star turned boxer, Jake Paul.
The atmosphere of that event was the first time, in a while, where Tyson began to get that itch to fight again.
“I just always wanted to be a fighter. That’s all I wanted to do my whole life was be a fighter, nothing else. I miss this stuff, I didn’t think I’d miss it until I was at the weigh-in in Saudi Arabia for [Paul-Fury]. You miss being the center of attention,” Tyson stated on his podcast.
The 56-year-old Tyson has been approached several times by groups in the Middle East, who want the Hall of Famer to have another exhibition fight.
“I don’t know, I’m just chilling out. I did that, I wanted to do that, I did that. People also in Saudi Arabia want me to do this stuff too. I don’t know, I could be persuaded,” Tyson said.
The biggest exhibition moneymaker for Tyson would be a trilogy fight with Evander Holyfield. In the last few years, the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on the financial terms.
