Junior middleweight prospect Mario Ramos battered Mexico’s Jesus Cruz Silva (6-3, 1 KO) before ending matters in the fourth round.

The southpaw Ramos (11-0, 9 KOs), who resides in nearby San Diego, was on the offensive from the opening bell. After the first round, Ramos began landing more-accurate punches and combinations to the head of Cruz, who was game, but was not able to keep the bigger Ramos at bay.

Ramos battered Cruz during the fourth round, pinning him against a corner and ripping vicious combinations to the head and body. Cruz began to bleed profusely from the nose, but kept fighting back. Cruz’s corner threw in the towel, but referee Ray Armendariz never acknowledged the corner, allowing Cruz to take further punishment. After several moments, Armendariz finally stopped the fight at 2:09.
