Lightweight contenders make weight for title eliminator – Fighters Only

The number one contender for the Cage Warriors lightweight title will be decided in Ireland, as Cage Warriors 161 takes place at the RDS in Dublin.

Reigning featherweight champion Paul Hughes is stepping up to lightweight to take on Jan Quaeyhaegens in the main event, with a shot at lightweight champion George Hardwick up for grabs for the winner.

The fighters took to the scale for the official weigh-in session ahead of fight night, with the two main event fighters both weighing in under the non-title limit for the matchup.

Hughes came in at 155.6 pounds for the bout, while Quaeyhaegens tipped the scale marginally heavier, at 155.7 pounds.

The co-main event also features lightweight action, as former two-division champion Mason Jones and former title challenger Yann Liasse face off to push their own championship claims.

Both men arrived on the scale weighing the same, with the pair each registering an official weight of 155.9 pounds.

The remainder of the main card weighed in without issue, but there was one weight miss further down the card. Michael Quinn’s first attempt saw him weigh in at 157.9 pounds for his lightweight bout with Nik Bagley, who weighed in at 155.9.

Quinn was given two further hours to lose the remaining weight, but was unable to get down to the limit of 156 pounds, coming in at 157.7. The bout will go ahead, but Quinn will be fined a percentage of his fight purse.
