Karlos Vemola unifies light heavyweight title with seven-second KO in Bratislava – Fighters Only

Oktagon light heavyweight champion Karlos Vemola unleashed his punch power to score a stunning seven-second knockout of interim champion Pavol Langer at Oktagon 47.

The bout saw defending champion Vemola facing off against interim champion Langer in a bout that many expected would see Langer push Vemola to the limit. But the fight was over moments after it had begun.

Langer headed into the bout with a remarkable 100 percent takedown defense, but that was never tested, as Vemola turned to his striking to score an incredible blink-and-you’ll-miss-it knockout to unify the titles in Bratislava.

After the pair touched gloves to start the action, Vemola set himself, then surged forward and threw a two-punch combination. The right hand glanced Langer’s chin, but the huge left hook that followed landed cleanly, and with full power.

The shot crumpled Langer to the mat, and the referee smartly dived in to spare him further punishment as Vemola closed in to make absolutely sure.

The victory was officially timed at seven seconds to give Vemola the second-fastest finish of his career. His fastest came in his second pro bout in Rochester, England, back in May 2008, where he stopped Bill Georgitsis in just five seconds on a UK regional show, Cage Fighters Championship 3. It was also Vemola’s first KO/TKO victory since a 2018 ground-and-pound TKO of Flavio Mason at XFN 15.

After his win, Vemola called old rival Attila Veigh into the cage, and said he was ready for “the biggest fight in Czech MMA history.” But he also said he wanted to rematch middleweight champion Patrik Kincl in a bid to become a double-champion.

A crestfallen Langer, meanwhile, described the fight as “the saddest seven seconds of my life.”

In the co-main event, Slovakia’s former two-division champion Ivan Buchinger registered the 41st victory of his career with a second-round TKO finish of Czech contender Jakub Dohnal, while Slovakian middleweight Marek Mazuch stopped Germany’s Jaime Cordero 33 seconds into the final round of their 185-pound matchup.

The main card also saw decision victories for Polish heavyweight Adam Palasz, Polish lightweight Mateusz Legierski, and Georgian welterweight Amiran Gogoladze.
