John Fury, father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has fired back at the recent statements from Deontay Wilder.
Fury and Wilder have collided on three occasions.
They fought to a controversial twelve round split draw in 2018. Fury would stop Wilder in the seventh round of the 2020 rematch – and the 2021 trilogy saw both boxers hit the floor before Fury eventually stopped Wilder in the eleventh.
In the aftermath of the second contest, Wilder made numerous allegations claiming that Fury had cheated in their fight. Among the claims, was that Fury loaded his gloves with ‘egg weights.’
Fury aggressively denied the allegations.
Last month in Saudi Arabia, Fury and Wilder were both ringside for the Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury showdown.
At some point during the event, the two rivals came together and appeared to exchange pleasantries with each other.
Despite what appeared to be a friendly meeting between the two, Wilder made it clear that he still harbors negative feelings towards Fury and still believes the British star is a ‘cheater.’
“I know a lot of people seen me with Fury. There’s a place and a time for all things. Of course… I can’t stand that motherf——, they know what’s up. He’s a cheater, I know a lot of things,” Wilder told ES News.
John Fury erupted after hearing Wilder’s recent statements.
“I just think Wilder is a horrible, decrepit man I just don’t like him at all. He can’t take a loss. If I was a young man like Tyson, we would have a roll around on the carpet. I would have hit him both hands straight in the mouth, but I haven’t bred a son like me. Tyson’s a great boxer but he doesn’t have my fire. If a man insults me I will hit him straight in the mouth. I said to Tyson ‘why don’t you hit him?’ He should have been hit,” John Fury told The Mirror.
“Even Jake Paul handled his defeat well and has gone back to the drawing board. [Wilder] is now howling and screaming abuse, how can somebody cheat you when he has been knocked spark out? And all this glove business, everything is checked out with WBC officials. Wilder for my money is a sore loser, and he will never get respect from me.”
