John Fury, father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, believes there is only one fighter who is man enough to face Deontay Wilder.
There have been ongoing talks to finalize a fight between Wilder and fellow former champion Anthony Joshua – but that contest is appearing less and less likely to happen with each passing week.
The elder Fury does not expect Joshua to face him.
He believes the only boxer with enough courage to collide with ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is former unified champion Andy Ruiz.
Last year, the WBC ordered Wilder and Ruiz to collide in a final eliminator, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.
According to Wilder and his handlers, Ruiz is significantly overpricing himself.
John Fury does not see anyone – including unified world champion Oleksandr Usyk – coming to the table for a Wilder showdown.
Wilder has collided with Tyson Fury on three occasions. The went to a split draw in 2018, with Fury winning the next two bouts by knockout.
“The only one out there who can challenge Tyson, and they all avoid him and they won’t fight him, is Deontay Wilder,” Fury said to FreeBets. “They’re all terrified of him, and Tyson straightened him up three times!
“All those people will never get in with “The Bronze Bomber” – Usyk, AJ, none of them will fight him. Andy Ruiz Jr will – for a price, because he’s got big you know what’s, and if the money is right and it makes good business sense, I can only see Andy Ruiz fighting him.
“He’s the only one who comes to mind who is in that bracket. He’s the only one who’s going to fight Deontay Wilder because the rest are terrified. They know what’s coming.”
