Jarrell Miller Still Eager To Replace Whyte, Fight Anthony Joshua in August

Heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller is still willing to step in and fight former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on a proposed date August.

Miller was scheduled to fight Joshua back in 2019 at New York’s Madison Square Garden, but he was removed from the bout after testing positive for several performance enhancing drugs.

Joshua’s next fight is being targeted for the date of August 12, and top contender Dillian Whyte is the frontrunner to get the opportunity.

However, there are ongoing issues with finalizing the rematch. On Monday, Whyte revealed that he wasn’t happy with certain terms within the bout agreement – specifically the inclusion of an immediate rematch clause.

It’s unlikely that Joshua would finalize such a fight without a rematch clause or some kind.

Miller restarted his career in June of last year, with three wins picked up since returning to the ring.

“I’ll annihilate him! Retire him! Send him back packing – plain and simple. I’m not playing no games with nobody. I’m playing no games. There is bad blood there in a boxing sense so it would be great entertainment,” Miller told Stamina For Sale.

“It’s nothing personal, I just don’t care for him, but when I see you on my radar, I don’t like you. I don’t like anything about you. I want to rip your guts out and nothing [is] going to change that. I’m not going anywhere for a while, I’m back, I’m here to stay and I’m coming with vengeance. And if anybody wants the smoke they know I’m here. I’m back baby.”

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has two backup options for Joshua – and he recently stated that Miller was not one of them.

Joshua was in action back in April, when he picked up a twelve round decision win over Jermaine Franklin. Miller saw action in March, when he knocked out former WBA champion Lucas Browne in six rounds in Dubai.
