Jarrell Miller On Daniel Dubois: “His Heart Is Suspect”

It’s rare that Jarrell Miller finds any kind words to describe someone in the heavyweight division. The bombastic big man isn’t a fan of most fighters, including Daniel Dubois, his upcoming opponent.

Generally, Miller would take the time to rip Dubois’ skills and characters. However, when recently asked to say something nice about the former regular titlist, he actually complied.

“He’s a durable fighter for 4-5 rounds,” said Miller during a recent interview with BoxingScene.com. “He has a good right hand. He’s pretty strong.”

Miller (26-0-1, 22 KOs) might be playing the role of the nice guy, but he isn’t a fan of how the 26-year-old has conducted himself in the ring. While he was busy making his comeback, Miller was paying attention to Dubois.

In November of 2020, the gargantuan Brit had his first step up against Joe Joyce. Although there was plenty of back-and-forth action, in the 10th, Dubois was forced to take a knee. He may have been cognizant but he allowed referee Ian John-Lewis to finish his count.

Whether it was warranted or not, Dubois (19-2, 18 KOs) had become the poster boy for quitting. And while he did pick up four consecutive knockout victories immediately after, he ran into the same problem against Oleksandr Usyk.

Just a few short months ago, Miller sat back and took in the sights as Dubois was stopped by what appeared to be a tenuous jab. Dubois claimed that it was a legitimate shot that laid him out but Miller thinks otherwise.

All in all, the loquacious New Yorker knows that Dubois has plenty of physical gifts that will give him a bit of trouble come December 23rd in Saudi, Arabia. However, punching power aside, Miller is of the belief that the thing beating inside Dubois’ chest will let him down once again.

“His heart is suspect.”
