Youtube star turned boxer, Jake Paul, believes a rematch with Tommy Fury will eventually happen in the future.
Back in February, Paul traveled to the Middle East and suffered his first career defeat at the hands of Fury, who got dropped in the final round but had enough rounds in the bank to secure an eight round split decision win.
Paul bounced back earlier this month in Texas, when he picked up a ten round unanimous decision win over MMA veteran Nate Diaz.
A rematch with Fury could have happened sooner than later, as Paul was capable of exercising a contractual clause to force an immediate second meeting.
Fury will now face another social media star who turned to boxing, KSI, on October 14.
Paul has already backed Fury to come out victorious.
The once-beaten crossover fighter believes the loss to Fury only made him more dedicated to the sport.
“I think the Tommy rematch is going to happen at some point, I put him down on the canvas and lost a split decision. He caught me at my worst and kudos to him. I needed the loss, it put me on a new track of having this insane amount of motivation and just being super locked in,” Paul said on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson.
“I wasn’t that locked in before and I was trying to cut corners, you just can’t do that in this sport. When you’re beating everyone, putting them down on the canvas, winning knockout of the year and making $10 to $20 million, you’re kind of like ‘Who’s going to beat me?’ and then you get beat.”
Paul is still mulling the possibility of facing Diaz in a rematch – but under MMA rules.
MMA organization PFL has Paul under contract for a future mixed martial arts debut.
“I have the $10 million offer for Nate to go the PFL and fight me in the cage,” Paul added. “Yeah I’m down and he seems to be about it, I think since I beat his as that he wants that get back. What happens when I go in and beat Nate at his own craft?”
