Harlem Eubank, the cousin of Chris Eubank Jr, is pushing to face Conor Benn in a welterweight showdown.
Eubank returned to the ring on Friday night in Brighton and knocked out Timo Schwarzkopf in the eleventh round. The victory gave Harlem the WBO Global title at 140-pounds.
His uncle, Chris Eubank Sr, was at ringside and believes his nephew has set the stage for a fight with Benn.
“Now, that’s put him right into the perfect position, that fight, for his next fight, which is at 147-pounds against Conor Benn,” Eubank Sr. said.
In a later interview, Harlem would then openly challenge Benn to accept the fight.
“Get your license and stop hiding from us, obey the rules Conor,” Harlem Eubank said.
“That’s what I’m coming for next, I’ve shown what I can do against a guy at the level of Timo, he’s never been stopped. I’m coming up to 147-pounds and Conor Benn is first on my hit list, let’s get it on.”
Last year, Benn was scheduled to face Chris Eubank Jr. – but their fight was cancelled after news broke that Benn had tested positive for a banned substance.
According to Eddie Hearn, who promotes Benn, their primary focus is to finalize a fight with Eubank Jr.
At the moment, they are not interested in facing Harlem.
“Firstly, he said it was dangerous for his son to take the fight at 157-pounds. So, now we’re only moving up 3-pounds to give Chris Eubank Jr the right to fight at 160-pounds,” Hearn told Daily Mail.
“Obviously, Chris Eubank Sr. is now representing Harlam so he’s pushing Harlem Eubank for that fight with Benn. It’s bizarre. We are just focusing on Eubank vs Benn and hopefully we can get that finalized next week.”
