The Devin Haney-Vasiliy Lomachenko pay-per-view show will cost boxing fans less than they typically pay on that platform.
Promoter Top Rank Inc. announced Tuesday that the price point for the three-fight Haney-Lomachenko telecast is $59.99. Haney – the undefeated, undisputed lightweight champion – will defend his IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO 135-pound championships against Lomachenko on May 20 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
There is one fewer fight than usual on the Haney-Lomachenko pay-per-view show, but it is $25 cheaper than the cost of the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia card four weeks earlier. The suggested retail price for the four-fight Showtime Pay-Per-View event headlined by Davis and Garcia on April 22 is $84.99, $10 more than consumers paid for the Showtime Pay-Per-View card Saturday night in which unbeaten WBC interim super middleweight champion David Benavidez beat Caleb Plant by unanimous decision in the 12-round main event at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The pay-per-view portion of the Haney-Lomachenko card will begin at 10 p.m. ET because there is one less fight on it than is customary. ESPN will televise two Haney-Lomachenko undercard fights live on the network May 20, which will end just before the pay-per-view part of the event begins.
ESPN+ will be the exclusive digital provider of the Haney-Lomachenko pay-per-view show, which will require a one-month subscription to the network’s $9.99-per-month streaming service if fans want to stream it. However, unlike the Terence Crawford-Shawn Porter card in November 2021, Haney-Lomachenko can also be purchased through traditional cable and satellite providers for $59.99.
The bout between Haney (29-0, 15 KOs), of Henderson, Nevada, and Ukraine’s Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) was finally officially announced Tuesday. Haney, 24, and Lomachenko, 35, will promote their fight at a press conference Thursday in Los Angeles.
The co-feature before Haney-Lomachenko will mark the comeback of former featherweight and junior lightweight champion Oscar Valdez.
Mexico’s Valdez (30-1, 23 KOs) will square off against Adam Lopez (16-4, 6 KOs, 1 NC), of Glendale, California, in a 10-round rematch. Valdez got up from a second-round knockdown to drop Lopez in the seventh round, when Valdez won their first bout by technical knockout in November 2019 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
The 32-year-old Valdez hasn’t fought since Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) decisively defeated him in their 12-round, 130-pound title unification fight last April 30 at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Raymond Muratalla (17-0, 14 KOs), of Fontana, California, and Jeremia Nakathila (23-2, 19 KOs), of Windhoek, Namibia, will meet in the opener of the Haney-Lomachenko pay-per-view show. Their lightweight fight is scheduled for 10 rounds.
Tickets for the Haney-Lomachenko card start at $104, plus applicable taxes and fees, and will go on sale Friday at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT at axs.com.
