Four more mixed martial artists became UFC fighters after the third Dana White’s Contender Series event of 2020.
Brothers Louis Cosce and Orion Cosce, Cheyanne Buys and Josh Parisian were all offered UFC contracts on Tuesday night.
Find out how they earned their contract offers below!
Louis Cosce hands Victor Reyna his first knockout loss in little over 60 seconds
In the headliner fight, Louis Cosce joined his brother Orion in the win column in 2020’s third event of Dana White’s Contender Series.
Cosce went to work right away against opponent Victor Reyna.
The welterweight’s striking looked sharp as he threw plenty of heat into his punches and kicks.
Pineda, who had never been knocked out before, succumbed to the pressure after getting knocked down with an overhand left. Referee Chis Tognoni stepped in after it was clear Pineda would not recover amid an onslaught of follow-up punches.
Cheyanne Buys earns UFC shot with dominant win over Hilarie Rose
LFA strawweight Cheyanne Buys earned a UFC contract with a dominant performance over Hilarie Rose.
Whether they were on their feet or on the ground, Buys had her way with Rose.
Buys’ boxing looked sharp and showed how adept she was in close quarters by throwing some damaging elbows.
Rose was hurt in the third round thanks to an overhand right from Buys but did well to survive.
Understandably, all three of the judges scored the fight 30-27 in Buys’ favour.
Orion Cosce stops Matt Dixon in third-round TKO victory
Unbeaten Team Alpha Male prospect Orion Cosce had to overcome some adversity to earn his place in the UFC.
The Californian was out-grappled by Matt Dixon in the opening round, giving up three takedowns and being bossed around in the clinch.
However, he was able to rebuff Dixon’s wrestling in the second round and the tide turned in his favour as a result. Cosce’s defence left him the fresher man for large parts of the second and later the third round.
After outstriking his opponent in the third, Cosce decided to take the fight down to the floor himself. Cosce worked his way to full mount to dish out some punishing ground and pound, later settling on a mounted crucifix to rain down punches on a defenceless Dixon to force the stoppage.
Josh Parisian becomes the newest UFC heavyweight with KO win over Chad Johnson
Second time’s a charm for Josh Parisian as he secured his UFC contract with a resounding first-round knockout win over Chad Johnson.
Parisian, who won on his first outing on the Contender Series, left nothing to chance as he overpowered Johnson.
Johnson was sent to the deck early in the fight after Johnson muscled his way to the floor.
It was Parisian’s fight from then on as he battered his opponent on the ground.
Parisian’s onslaught of punches and elbows from side control soon moved to a similar assault from full mount and resulted in a knockout win.
