Floyd Mayweather Praises Keyshawn Davis: “He’s a Helluva Fighter”

Keyshawn Davis is good. Some may already consider him great. Yet, despite believing that he’s on his way to superstardom, Davis isn’t so full of himself to ignore those who are willing to lend him a helping hand.

The sport of boxing has come relatively easy to Davis. When his opponents have asked him to box on the outside, he obliges. When he’s forced to switch up the tempo, plant his feet and fire, he excels.

The skills are ostensible but Davis seemingly still has a ways to go before he fights for a world title. Still, even with only a handful of fights underneath his belt, Davis (9-0, 6 KOs) is grabbing the attention of some of the all-time greats, including Floyd Mayweather.

Although he enjoys spending his time traveling the world, flaunting his wealth, and of course, making smart investments, Mayweather took some time out of his busy day to work closely with the 24-year-old.

The former five-division champ was spotted at his boxing gym holding the pads while Davis blasted away. It may have been Mayweather’s first time working with Davis but the Hall of Fame fighter was impressed with what he saw both behind the scenes and when Davis steps into the limelight.

“He’s a helluva fighter,” Mayweather told FightHype.com during a sit-down interview.

Praise and adulation might be coming from all directions but Davis isn’t letting it get to his head. When last seen, the up-and-coming lightweight was surgical. Although Francesco Patera sauntered to the ring for their showdown with more than three times the number of pro fights as Davis, he was barely able to win a round.

What’s next for him is an open-ended question. However, if the decision were his and his alone, Davis revealed that he would love to face either Frank Martin or Andy Cruz.
