23-year old French heavyweight prospect Wilfried Florentin (3-0) was shot to death in Paris on Sunday morning, reports Le Parisien. The exact circumstances around his death are still being investigated but it appears that there was a brawl and Florentin was shot twice and died in the hospital.
Florentin was a promising amateur, but his amateur career was cut short when he was suspended after assaulting a coach. He then turned pro but couldn’t fight in France and fought in Denmark, Luxembourg and Monaco during his short career – that is now over. He leaves behind two young kids.
