In no surprise, David Avanesyan has relinquished the EBU welterweight title due to his upcoming fight against WBO world champion Terence Crawford on December 10
This gives his mandatory challenger Jon Miguez (17-0) from Spain a lucky break and chance to win a major title. He now has Frenchman Jordy Weiss (29-0-3) as co-challenger for the vacant title and the EBU have set November 15 as deadline for purse bids.

There were no purse bids today in Rome for the mandated fight for the vacant EBU heavyweight title, as Croatian Alen “The Beast” Babic (11-0) pulled out yesterday.
German champ Peter Kadiru (14-0) remains as co-challenger to the vacant belt and a new co-challenger will be appointed.

German super middleweight Emre Cukur (19-1-1) fought a “tune-up” this past weekend as he prepares for challenging EBU champ Kevin Lele Sadjo (18-0) on November 19 in Creteil (France).
Cukur fought Hadillah Mohoumadi, a fighter who has seen better days but is still a tough campaigner. It all began well with Mohoumadi under pressure but as it was Cukur tired and was according to reports lucky to not have a point deducted after a head butt and a knockdown in the final round wasn’t called. Cukur escaped his “tune up” with a draw and thus salvaged the date against Lele Sadjo, but whether he can be ready again in less than a month is an open question.
