Middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. believes the win by Liam Smith in their initial encounter was a “miracle.”
Back in January, Smith, a former WBO junior middleweight champion, moved up in weight and dramatically knocked Eubank out in the fourth round.
They meet for a second time on Saturday night in Manchester.
For the first fight, Eubank was trained by former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr.
Working his corner this weekend will be veteran trainer Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre, who is best known for his work with undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford.
The 33-year-old Eubank realizes that his career is at stake, which is why he promises to put on the performance of his career.
“The performance will be exquisite, supernatural, a beautiful artistic display of savage boxing,” Eubank said.
“Even to Liam, he may not admit it, he was not expecting the [first] fight to go how it finished. Nobody did. I have to prove that I am the better fighter. Me saying it, me believing it, is not enough. If he pulls it off again, I can’t argue with anybody. I can’t argue with him. I can’t argue with the boxing public. He will be the better fighter and that will be it.
During Thursday’s final press conference, Eubank sent a warning to his rival, vowing to make things right when they meet again.
“The miracle was you walking away with a win over me. You shouldn’t have won the fight and I am going to rectify that,” Eubank said.
McIntyre, the third trainer for Eubank in the last four years, gave high praise to his newest student – although the pair have only worked together for a few weeks.
“Chris is a sponge. He soaks it up and executes it. He already knows what he has to do,” McIntyre said.
