Dusty Hernandez Harrison notched another win in his second comeback to boxing.
Harrison stopped Norberto Gonzalez in round four Saturday night at the Acca Shriners Center in Richmond, Virginia. Harrison, who resides in Washington, D.C., improved to 36-0-1, 22 knockouts.
After an even opening round, Harrison began connecting with more frequency to the head and body of Gonzalez. During an exchange, a left hook opened a cut over the right eye of Gonzalez.
Harrison increased his punch volume and aggression during the fourth round. The tactic was rewarded as a barrage of punches dropped Gonzalez to the canvas. The fight was immediately stopped at 2:21.
The win over Gonzalez took place less than four months after Harrison stopped Ronald Montes in the third round. Harrison weighed in at 185.5 pounds Saturday night, one pound less than in the win over Montes.
The 29-year-old Harrison was out of boxing for over three and a half years, since a knockout victory over Les Sherrington in February 2020. During that time, Harrison’s weight ballooned close to 300 pounds and he lost his father Buddy in a shooting in September 2022.
Harrison also tried his hand at promoting a handful of fight cards in the Washington area.
Prior to the win over Gonzalez, Harrison confirmed to BoxingScene he is scheduled to face Scott Sigmon on March 16 in Lynchburg, Virginia in a 12-round super middleweight bout.
Gonzalez, who resides in Monterrey, Mexico, falls to 24-15, 13 KOs. Gonzalez was fighting for the first time since losing by decision to unbeaten Justin Biggs in August 2019.
The 42-year-old Gonzalez has now lost seven of his last fights.
Also on the card promoted by Elizabeth Cane, junior middleweight Crisanto Lucio of Waldorf, Maryland impromed to 7-1, 4 KOs, stopping North Carolina’s Vonshetha Miller (1-3, 1 KO) in round five.
In welterweight action, Jared Wells of Fluvanna, Virginia was successful in his pro debut, defeating Jashawn Hunter (1-7, 1 KO) of North Carolina by unanimous decision. All three judges scored the bout 40-36 in favor of Wells.
