Devin Haney found success early on by targeting Vasily Lomachenko’s body with his right hand. Haney landed 50 body punches, 49 of which were power punches.
Very little separated the combatants over the first nine rounds. Lomachenko’s best rounds were the tenth and eleventh when he landed 20 power punches to Haney’s 6.
Lomachenko threw 159 more punches, landing 9 more jabs and 5 more power punches than Haney. Lomachenko landed 30% of his power punches while Haney landed 41%.
MGM Grand, Las Vegas – In a battle for the undisputed lightweight championship, Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) overcame a big second half rally by Vasiliy Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) to win a twelve round unanimous decision.
The scores were 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113 for Haney.
