In the Showtime PPV main event, it took David Benavidez three rounds to figure out Demetrius Andrade but after that it was all the Mexican Monster.
In the end, Benavidez was 117 of 336, 35% in total punches compared to 68 of 259, 26% for Andrade. Benavidez was 102 of 264, 39% in power punches. In the first three rounds, Benavidez only landed 11 power punches and over the next three rounds landed 91 power punches. Andrade’s corner saw enough after the sixth round.
Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas – In a battle of undefeated super middleweights, David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) beat down and stopped Demetrius Andrade (32-1, 19 KOs) in six rounds.
Pursuant to a recent WBC order, Benavidez is now the mandatory challenger to undisputed champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
