When they first faced off for the UFC’s undisputed welterweight title at UFC 245 in December 2019, the anticipation was sky-high for a memorable encounter, and the two heated rivals didn’t disappoint.
Their clash in Las Vegas delivered one of the most thrilling title fights ever seen inside the UFC’s famed octagon, as the Usman and Covington went back and forth for four breathless rounds before “The Nigerian Nightmare” finally finishes “Chaos” in the final round to secure a statement victory and retain his title in emphatic fashion.
Covington’s defeat has done little to slow him down, or silence his outspoken nature, however. The former interim champion bounced back with a fifth round finish of former champ Tyron Woodley, and has been sitting and biding his time ever since in anticipation of his rematch.
That rematch comes this weekend, on November 6, with Covington looking for revenge as he looks to dethrone Usman and complete his journey to the pinnacle of the UFC’s 170-pound division.
Usman, meanwhile, has grown into one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet. His dominance of the welterweight division has led to comparisons with another great champion, Georges St-Pierre, and Usman heads into Saturday night’s clash riding an 18-fight win streak.
While Covington is targeting revenge, Usman is aiming for a repeat and, if possible, an even more emphatic finish than he delivered in their first matchup.
Ahead of fight night, the UFC has released its in-depth preview show, UFC 268 Countdown, and you can watch the Usman vs. Covington 2 segment right here…
