Amanda Serrano-Danila Ramos Title Consolidation Bout Ordered By WBO

Amanda Serrano is on the hook to defend her undisputed featherweight championship.

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the WBO has ordered a title consolidation bout between Serrano and interim titlist Danila Ramos. The two sided will have ten days from Monday’s notification to reach terms and avoid a purse bid hearing.

Serrano is represented by Most Valuable Promotions, while Ramos is now signed to Georgina Rivero’s O.R. Promotions out of Argentina. Both parties were notified by the sanctioning body of the ordered bout.

“Please be advised that the WBO World Championship Committee is hereby ordering the commencement of

the negotiations for the subject matter bout,” WBO Championships Committee chairman Luis Batista-Salas stated in a ruling obtained by BoxingScene.com. “The parties herein are granted 10 days upon issuance of this

notice to negotiate and reach an agreement as ordered.

“If the parties cannot reach an agreement within the time provided herein purse bid proceedings will be ordered pursuant to WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests. The minimum bid in all WBO Female divisions is $25,000.00 (Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars). Any of the parties herein may request purse bid proceedings at any stage of the negotiation process.”

Serrano (45-2-1, 30KOs) became the fully unified featherweight champion following her ten-round polnts win over then WBA titlist Erika Cruz in what remains the best women’s fight of the year. The record-setting, seven-division titlist from Brooklyn by way of Carolina, Puerto Rico has made five defenses of at least two featherweight belts since entering her third reign following a September 2019 landslide victory over then-unbeaten WBO titlist Heather Hardy.

In her most recent bout, Serrano defeated Hardy via points win in their August 5 rematch in Dallas, Texas. The win was her third straight since a narrow defeat to undisputed lightweight queen Katie Taylor last April 30 in New York City, in what remains arguably the greatest women’s fight of all time.

Ramos (12-2, 1KO) replaced Serrano’s prior WBO mandatory following her latest victory.

The 38-year-old Brazilian boxer—now based in Buenos Aires, Argentina—earned a ten-round, split decision over Brenda Karen Carabajal on August 18 to win the interim WBO featherweight title at Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires. Carabajal was previously ordered to face Serrano before the ruling was rescinded by the sanctioning body to allow the legendary Puerto Rican southpaw to instead further unify the featherweight division.

Ramos prevailed at the right time, as the interim title winning effort came in her fourth consecutive victory. The last three have come since she relocated to Argentina last year.
