After falling at the final hurdle of her first ONE atomweight MMA world championship bid, Stamp Fairtex has gotten back on her feet, dusted herself off, and created an undeniable aura around herself.
The former atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing champion is gearing up for the most pivotal matchup of her career on Saturday, September 30, when she faces Ham Seo Hee for the ONE interim women’s atomweight MMA world title in the main event of ONE Fight Night 14, and she’ll enter the highly anticipated matchup with an abundance of confidence.
Stamp’s first world title charge came to a head at ONE X in March 2022, when she challenged longtime titleholder Angela Lee.
The Thai superstar had amassed an impressive run to earn her shot the top prize, and she put up a good fight against “Unstoppable” before succumbing to a submission loss in the second round.
Since then, the fearsome Fairtex Gym fighter has rebuilt and redesigned her fight approach, and her two dominant MMA victories in the last 12 months have her back on track toward becoming ONE’s first three-sport world champion.
Stamp’s road to the interim crown started last October at ONE on Prime Video 2, when she met Jihin Radzuan.
Though she had to endure numerous barrages for “Shadow Cat,” the 25-year-old star wasn’t going to miss an opportunity to impress on her return to action. Her striking and evolved grappling was on display for all to see, and she picked up a unanimous decision to establish herself back in the winner’s column.
Stamp added to that win in style when she took on American powerhouse Alyse Anderson at ONE’s debut on-ground event in the U.S, ONE Fight Night 10, this past May.
The former two-sport titleholder showed no sense of intimidation when stepping in against the hometown hero, and the American crowd roared their approval as she made her way to the Circle with her signature dance moves, then proceeded to end Anderson’s night with a brutal liver shot in the second round.
With her comeback all but sealed, Stamp again lies on the cusp of world title glory, but she’ll have one final mountain to climb against Ham on September 30.
The South Korean MMA veteran is riding a nine-fight winning streak, and she sits comfortably as the No. 2-ranked atomweight contender thanks to a 3-0 slate in ONE.
Undoubtedly, this is the biggest night in both women’s careers, but it’s the second time at the top for Stamp, so fans can be sure that she will have every weapon as sharp as possible for her outing at ONE Fight Night 14.
