UFC President Dana White, who is close friends with Mike Tyson, gave his take on the potential trilogy fight with Evander Holyfield.
The two former world champions are in training, with both looking to return to the ring in exhibition bouts to raise money for charity.
But the biggest exhibition fight, would have Tyson and Holyfield face each other.
Holyfield shocked the world when he stopped Tyson in eleven rounds in 1996 to capture the heavyweight crown.
In the infamous rematch, in 1997, Tyson was disqualified in the third round for biting off a piece of Holyfield’s ear.
But now the boxers are much older and more susceptible to injury.
Tyson, 53-years-old, has been away from the ring since 2005. And Holyfield, 57, has been out of action since 2011.
White has no idea who would win the third meeting, but he plans to watch it if the bout actually happens.
“I don’t know,” White said. “What I would like to do is take them both out to dinner and say, ‘hey let’s not fight.’ Mike Tyson I talked to and Tyson told me, ‘I can’t explain it to ya, I’m a fighter and I always will be till the day I die. And I feel it in my gut and I wanna do it.’ And he’s a grown man and he can do whatever he wants. So I said, ‘you know what Mike, I love you buddy and I support ya. Good luck and I’ll watch it.
“Tyson’s still explosive, he’s still fast. And we all know who Evander Holyfield is. I mean that guy is a stone-cold warrior to the core. So, I don’t know. I don’t know who’s gonna win that fight, and they’re actually not 50, they’re older than me. They’re like seven or eight years older than me. I wish them both luck.”
