MMA veteran Jorge Masvidal still feels confident in his ability to shock social media star turned boxer, Jake Paul.
Paul, who turned pro in 2020, has overcome several MMA fighters in the ring – especially those, like Masvidal, who competed in the UFC.
Last month, Paul returned to the ring with a ten round unanimous decision over MMA star Nate Diaz, who Masvidal defeated in the UFC.
Besides Diaz, Paul also holds boxing wins over MMA fighters like Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.
Masvidal was not impressed by the boxing abilities of the previously mentioned MMA fighters.
“I feel like these guys ain’t boxers, man,” Masvidal told EPSN MMA. “And I feel like they’re not me. From a businessman point of view these guys are not what would stop me from competing, with these guys I would have a very good night and I’m hearing those numbers that got thrown around and made.
“I’m like ‘man, I’ll throw my hat, my name in that lottery pool that mish mash’. I don’t know what’s going on with this influencer, they call it boxing, but these guys ain’t boxing. I get it if you don’t have the skillset and you started late in life I get that but at least you’ve got to have the will.”
According to Masvidal, he saw nothing of concern in the recent fight between Paul and Diaz. He felt neither fighter was trying hard to close the show.
“You’ve got to be mean, you’ve got to come to fight and you’ve got to be beating people up,” Masivdal said. “I feel like in that last fight I didn’t see either of those things, skill or will so if you’re talking about me fighting them dudes? Line them up on the same day, give me Nate then give me Jake and maybe it might be competitive.”
