Joshua was initially scheduled to face Dillian Whyte in a rematch. Last Saturday, it was announced that Whyte was being pulled from the fight after “adverse findings” were discovered in his random drug testing protocol with VADA.
In the first round, Helenius came out firing early on and pressing forward. Joshua was jabbing and looking to box. Helenius was going to the body at times, while Joshua was jabbing well.
Joshua came out jabbing well in the second round. Joshua landed a good right, with Helenius taking it. The jab of Joshua was controlling things in the third. He landed another solid right that pushed Helenius back, but he didn’t jump on him. In the fourth, Joshua landed another big right. Helenius took it but held on. The jab of Joshua was giving Helenius problems and bloodied his nose.
Joshua was getting more aggressive in the fifth, coming forward and looking to land something big. Helenius came back with two rights to keep Joshua honest. Helenius got tagged with a left hook and took it. The nose of Joshua began to bleed from Helenius’ jab. During the sixth, the kab of Joshua was popping back the head of Helenius. Two hooks would connect on Joshua, who started to use his legs to get away from danger. Joshua went right back to the jab.
The seventh saw Helenius a bit slower and Joshua just jabbing away. But, then Joshua landed a huge right that knocked Helenius out cold. The fight was quickly waved off.
