T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas – In a long-awaited welterweight showdown for the WBO, IBF, WBC, WBA world titles, Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) dropped Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) three times and beat him down for a stoppage in the ninth to become undisputed.
Spence was down from a hard jab at the end of the second. In the seventh, he was decked by an uppercut and then by a right hook at the end of the round. By the fourth round, Spence’s face was bruised and swelling up from Crawford’s heavy jab.
The end finally came in the ninth, as Crawford rocked Spence with several punches that forced the referee to jump in and waved off the fight.
