Former WBO heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker scored a first round knockout win over Australia’s Faiga Opelu in their main event bout in Melbourne.
A series of punches sent Opelu down, with the referee waving off the contest with 90 seconds left in the round.
“One round was enough for me, It was to be dominant, be the big man and every punch make it worth it,” Parker said afterwards.
“This is the best I’ve felt in a long time, I needed something like that, a good performance and I want to fight again as soon as I can. I want to keep busy, I want to keep that momentum going until I get to the top.”
Parker improved his record to 32 wins, with 3 defeats.
It was Parker’s second win since getting knocked out last year in his fire-fight with Joe Joyce.
