HEAVYWEIGHT prodigy Moses Itauma should be out eight times by the end of 2023, according to his promoter Frank Warren.
The 18-year-old has raced to 2-0 as a result of winning his debut on January 28 and then his second fight on March 25.
He needed a combined total of just 58 seconds to get rid of both of his opponents and barely broke a sweat in the process.
His third outing will come at the Copper Box on April 15 as part of the undercard for Joe Joyce’s clash with Zhilei Zhang with Ukrainian Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko the opponent for Itauma.
And Warren insists there will be no slowing down of the talented southpaw’s activity once that fight is out of the way, with a further five fights planned in the final seven months of the year.
“He’s going to have eight fights this year,” Warren told BoxingScene.com
“We are going to keep him busy busy busy and get his experience up. I think he’s capable of doing that.
“Obviously I will look at each fight and make a decision whether to push him or not but I think he’s capable of that volume of fights this year.”
Warren held off interest from a number of other promoters to land the signature of Itauma, considered one of the hottest heavyweight prospects on the planet.
At the press conference to announce the signing, it was suggested that the main objective is to beat Mike Tyson’s record as the youngest world heavyweight champion.
Iron Mike was 20 years, four months and 22 days old when he knocked out Trevor Berbick to win the title in November 1986. Itauma is currently 18 and three months old.
It is worth noting that Tyson, who was 18 and nine months old when he made his debut in March 1985, boxed 15 times that year, including three knockouts in November alone.
Warren added: “It is not the plan to make him the main event, he will just stay busy, keep fighting, keep knocking people out.
“The busier he is, the more he is in the gym training for fights and living the life and learning.”
Itauma made his debut on January 28 at the Wembley Arena but it was a bittersweet night for the family as his brother Karol was stopped in five rounds by Ezequiel Maderna in their clash for the WBC international light-heavyweight title.
Warren said: “Karol is coming back in May or June. It has been a tough time for him but he has to regroup and show what he’s made of.”
