36-year old veteran Ronny Landaeta (20-4) became Spanish champ for the fourth time when he stopped young prospect Jose Luis Navarro in the sixth round of a huge upset Saturday night in Cordoba.
Navarro had won his previous seven fights all inside the distance and the fight against Landaeta was supposed to be the last step before perhaps being signed up by a major promoter internationally. Instead he was hurt and stunned in the sixth and the fight had to be stopped.

LNK Boxing in Latvia staged a big show yesterday headlined by jr lightweight Artjom Ramlavs (16-2) who outscored Brazilian Eduardo Costa Do Naszimento (9-2) to win the vacant IBA Intercontinental title.
On the undercard Swedish light heavyweight Costas Nanga (8-0, 7 KO) stopped tough veteran Artem Karasev (17-48-3) in the fourth. Karasev was down in the first and twice in the third but stunned the Swede early in the fourth but as he tried to follow up he walked into a left hook to the body and went down again and this time it was stopped.
German super middleweight Nick Hannig (11-1-1) won a majority decision over Dmytro Fedas (8-2-2) in what was the fight of the night.

Estelle Mossely (11-0) retained the IBO female lightweight title with a wide decision over Malawi’s Anisha Basheel (11-9 Friday night in Paris (France).
The show was promoted by Mossely and was a mixed event with a fashion show, martial arts and professional boxing.

Italian featherweight Davide Tassi (15-0) won the vacant WBC International Silver title as he knocked out Jose Antonio Romero Sanchez (15-1-1) in the tenth and final round. Sanchez, from Spain but living in Finland for a few years, told Espabox and he was tired in the ninth but was told he had to step it up and win the final round to get the decision but was caught.
In the co-feature of this Promo Boxe Italia event bantamweight Claudio Grande (10-2) won the vacant Italian title with a unanimous decision over Jonathan Sannino (15-4-1).

DAZN Germany made its debut last night in Germany when they showed Felix Sturm vs. Sukru Altay. Sturm won a unanimous decision but it appears to have been a controversial call as the 44-year former world champ struggled against Altay (15-3).
This was the first of the five DAZN German events this year, says Rainer Gottwald, co-promoter of the show.
On the undercard another former world champ returned in Tyron Zeuge (25-1-1) who stopped overmatched Czech Michal Ryba (12-10-1) in the first round.

Polish all time great Grzegorz Skrzecz has passed away at the age of 65, reports bokser.org. Skrecz won a bronze medal in the World and European championships in 1982 and 1983. In the Olympic Games in 1980 he had the misfortune of walking into Teofilo Stevenson in the quarter final. He never turned pro.
Also gone is former Spanish champ Fernando Perez, who has passed away at the age of 80. Perez turned pro in 1962 and fought on until 1979 compiling a record 25-27-19. He won the national lightweight title in 1973 and also challenged for the junior welter crown.
