IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis is looking for a new promoter.
It had recently been reported that he had been in discussions with a number of promoters, including Matchroom.
Ennis, 26, was upgraded to the status of champion as a consequence of Terence Crawford’s contractual obligation to negotiate a rematch with Errol Spence. Philadelphia’s Ennis most recently recorded a spectacular 10th-round knockout of Roiman Villa, in Atlantic City in July 2023.
“We’ve had some very brief chats,” Hearn said. “At the end of the day we’d love to make ‘Boots’ a part of the Matchroom team. He is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. We will see where it goes.”
PBC’s deal with broadcaster SHOWTIME concluded with a telecast in December 2023, when Cuba’s David Morrell stopped Sena Agbeko of Ghana in two rounds.
Hearn is hoping to enhance his American stable by complementing Jesse Rodriguez, Devin Haney, Edgar Berlanga, Alycia Baumgardner and more.
