A few days ago, it was revealed that rival British promoters, Frank Warren of Queensberry and Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, reached an agreement to stage an event where the two promoters will match some of their best talent in a five fight competition.
The event will take place in Saudi Arabia.
Warren is staging a seven fight card, featuring some of his top fighters, on March 16 in Birmingham.
Some of the winners that night could be featured on the Queensberry vs. Matchroom card, which is expected to take place in the first half of the year.
“We’re working on it and it’s a funny thing this show that’s taking place – the Magnificent Seven – because the winners out of that could be on the team [for Queensberry]. So we’ll pick out the respective fighters from the respective divisions, and I’m sure Matchroom will be doing the same,” Warren told TNT Sports.
“It’s going to be very competitive; as much as we’re working together on things, there will be no love lost on the night.
“No-one will want to lose or let the team down, so I think it will be a very interesting night and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Warren indicated that he would like to spice things up by placing a large bet on the table.
“We’ve got to sort out the weights,’ Warren said to The Daily Mail. “Because there’s five fights, there will be a winner if one of the teams will win unless we get a draw.
“To make it a little bit more spicy, I’d like to have a wager on it with [Hearn] as well. [I’d be willing to bet] a million pounds.”
