It was clear very early on that Kabayel’s advantage in speed and boxing ability would provide Makhmudov with a lot of problems as the contest played out.
By the third round, Kabayel began to connect with significant punches and was doing a good job at avoiding most of the offense coming back at him.
In the fourth, Kabayel began to unload with both hands and it quickly became apparent that Makhmudov was in serious trouble. A series of punches to the body sent Makhmudov down. He beat the count, but appeared to be in serious trouble. More punches rained down to create a second knockdown. Once again Makhmudov got to his feet, but a third knockdown was enough to force a stoppage as the referee jumped in to wave off the fight.
